Converge 2010 Fall Schedule

Welcome back UNF/FSCJ students!!!  And if you are new to Jax, we are excited that you are here.

If this is your first time checking out the website and you are interested in Converge then I want to personally invite you out to one of our “Go” nights and our “Gather” nights.  We meet up on Wednesday Nights, but check the schedule to see when we are “gathering” & our “go” nights…see below.

Our “Go” nights are all about FAITH IN ACTION, LOVING OTHERS WHERE THEY ARE AT IN LIFE…WITHOUT JUDGEMENT AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE THOSE IN NEED.

Our “Gather” nights will be filled with FREE LOOP PIZZA, SODAS, CANDY & CHIPS.  This will also be a time for us TO GROW TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY, WORSHIP, MATURE IN FAITH & FOCUS OUR STEPS TOWARDS FOLLOWING JESUS.

2 times year we will take a 7 day trip to GUATEMALA.  This is an incredible opportunity to love others in the midst of abject poverty, brokenness and hopelessness.  Each time we go our hope is to trust Jesus to use our hands and feet to meet tangible needs. Through meeting these tangible needs its been a joy to see how HE overwhelms hearts and lives with HIS unconditional love and grace.

Converge gathering

Wednesday July 21th, 2010

Tonight we GATHER up at the UNF student union building room 3703A @ 530pm

Hebrews 10:19-25 (Message bible)

So, friends, we can now—without hesitation—walk right up to God, into “the Holy Place.” Jesus has cleared the way by the blood of his sacrifice, acting as our priest before God. The “curtain” into God’s presence is his body.  So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.

Come out and join us!

Loving Our Neighbor

Wednesday June 9th 2010 (Hubbard House: Go night)

You know when Jesus makes that statement to “love our neighbors as ourselves”.  I truly believe He intended for us to put this into action.  Although the question that a particular lawyer asks Jesus right after this statement is made, is quite intriguing.  The lawyer asks “who is my neighbor”?  Jesus then goes on to share the story that is so often used describing doing good works and this is the story of the Good Smaritian.  But, what I find most interesting in this story that helps me to LIVE out this truth, to love our neighbors as ourselves, is this:  Anyone that God puts in your path of life that is in NEED, HURTING, BROKEN, HUNGRY, THIRSTY or HOPELESS we should lend our help, services or support.

Tonight we will have an opportunity to practice fulfilling this truth at the Hubbard House. This safe house is a protected shelter for women and children who suffer from domestic violence.  These women and children are hurting, damaged and buried in pain.  Our focus tonight is to trust God to utilize our hands, feet, smiles and hugs to bring His comfort, healing and hope to the forefront of these women and children.

Join us for a night of fulfilling His call to GO and love our neighbors as ourselves

Going to the Impact House

September 23, 09

Tonight we are going to the Impact House in hopes to make a difference.  We will leave from the Publix Towncenter parking lot around 6.  Pizza, drinks, free t-shirts, games and a whole bunch of love will be given out tonight.

The question that may arise in many of our lives is, “why are we going to visit troubled teens”?

Well your answer is found in the Source.  In the book of Matthew, Jesus speaks clearly to this whole idea of going into the world to make a difference.  In verses 13-16 He says we are to be a salt & light..

This statement that we are to be salt means we are to preserve the God-flavors in peoples lives  These teenagers need someone to share that they are of value, created with intent and purpose in mind.  That their lives are here for some specific reason.

This statement that Jesus utters that we are to be a light, really means that darkness in peoples lives can be cleared out by the light that is inside us.  He wants to use us to bring out the God-colors in this world.  You hear to many people say that this world is “dark”.  Well lets be willing to be used by God to bring forth a beautiful assortment of colors in these teenagers lives and this world.

I believe God wants to use a generation to preserve the God-flavors and colors in peoples live and ultimately this world.  Are you willing to be that instrument that God can use?  Will you go and be His salt and light?

Join us as we “GO”!

Remember Love Wins…

See ya tonight,

Anthony
